Healthy vision helps children learn, play, and explore with confidence. Regular eye check-ups and good habits like outdoor time and balanced screen use keep their eyesight strong. Clear vision supports learning, development, and overall well-being, setting them up for success. Prioritizing eye care from a young age can help avoid long-term vision issues.

Common Things We Look For:

  • Astigmatism: This is when there is an irregular curvature in the eye; as a result the light the enters your child’s pupil doesn’t shine on the retina. Instead, it scatters which can lead to difficulty seeing. There are several options to correcting an astigmatism.
  • Myopia: This is commonly referred to as “nearsightedness“. It is when faraway objects look blurry, but close ones stay clear. It happens when the eye is too long or the cornea is too curved, causing light to focus in the wrong spot. There are ways to help correct this.
  • Amblyopia: Also called “lazy eye“. This a condition where one eye has weaker vision than the other. We screen our pediatric patients for this because early treatment is the most effective. We have a few options to treat lazy eyes.

Treatments We Offer Children

If your child has nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, prescription eyeglasses or contacts can help correct their vision. For more serious eye conditions like glaucoma or cataracts, we have treatment options available. Additionally, we provide myopia management to slow the progression of nearsightedness. This may involve using atropine drops at night in combination with eyeglasses or contacts. Myopia control helps reduce the severity of nearsightedness as your child grows, ensuring they have a lighter prescription in the future. Regular check-ups ensure we’re on track for clear, healthy vision as your child’s eyes develop!
